  • Join us for our 2026 season opener! We’re mastering the "Burrito Method" to create professional-grade pillowcases with hidden French seams—no raw edges! This is a family-friendly event; parents are encouraged to sew with their kids.

  • Skill Level: Competent Beginner (can thread your own machine). Bring a sewing buddy if you think you’ll need help. Kids welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

  • The Mission: This class is FREE! In exchange, we ask that you donate your finished pillowcase to Doernbecher or Randall Children's Hospital.

  • Hospital Safety Requirements: Fabric must be 100% Cotton, new, and from a smoke-free/pet-free home, pre-washed in scent-free detergent.

    • Pre-Cut Dimensions (Must be cut on the grainline):

    • Main Body: 27” x 40”

    • Cuff: 9” x 40”

    • Trim (Optional): 2” x 40”

    Attendee Supply Checklist:

  • The "Vitals": Sewing Machine, Power Cord and Foot Pedal. (It’s the #1 thing left behind!)

  • The Needle: Fresh Universal 80/12 needle installed.

  • The Bobbin: Bring at least two bobbins pre-wound with coordinating thread.

  • The Feet: Standard (A/J) Presser Foot.

  • The Tool Kit: Fabric Scissors/Rotary Cutter, Seam Ripper, and straight pins or clips.

  • Free Parking: Urbanite offers free parking lot in their private lot behind the building.

  • The Mission: This class is FREE! In exchange, we ask that you donate your finished pillowcase to Doernbecher or Randall Children's Hospital. We’ll collect the pillowcases you’d like to donate and deliver them to your hospital of choice.

There is free parking on the backside of Urbanite in their private parking lot. The sewing event is on the second floor in the Events Loft. There will be signs when you walk in the main entrance. Shop employees will be happy to help you navigate to the location.
