Inside My Portland handbag Studio

There once was a worker bee who sat in her little home studio. Every day I would come home after my daytime job to work into the evening doing highly repetitious work. To keep motivated I started adding pieces of artwork, fun colors and textures that I loved.

Then I added some kitties to cause some chaos. The studio doubles as a playground when I’m fostering kittens so I can keep an eye on them as I work.

There is a cute picture of my grandma Judy on the wall from when she was in 4th grade, along with fun posters with vintage illustrations of gems, trees and fungi. My colorful 4-H ribbons hang by my sewing machine, reminding me of all the fun times that Alison and I cleaned house at the Skamania County Fair with all of our flowers.

With my beloved collection of gathered items I love spending more time in that space. Which means that my brain keeps motivated to keep plugging away on Land & Kamp even if that means sitting down for just 30 minutes after a really long day. But that is part of figuring out what keeps you motivated. It is kind of like working out, if I hate it and force myself to do the work then I’m less and less likely to go back. For me, visual lovelies that keep me in a space longer, allow me to stay creative. Fun studios can be quaint bedrooms tucked away with little mementos that always bring a smile to your face.

Much Love-Jessie
